Neovel is one of many sites I post my stories on.
Unfortunately, they utilize a soft paywall in the form of "NeoPass" shop and "DailyTickets." No doubt this helps finance the costs of running their website, so its not like I am morally opposed to them doing this. However, I am given no option (that I can see) to disable this soft paywall. As a result, users of Neovel can only read essentially the beginnings of my works unless they either obtain the aforementioned passes over time (DailyTickets are given out for free over time I believe) or buy them on their shop.
The income generated from this goes mostly towards Neovel. I would only receive 15%. Admittedly, I don't have a full idea of how that all works. According to my dashboard, as of the time of this post, I'd at most receive $0.03 from a withdraw. Neovel users can easily bypass this paywall by accessing my work elsewhere, such as on my website, which I provide without any paywall.
I've reached out to Neovel to ask them to disable the paywall on my works, but I have not (yet) received a response. If it is not possible to disable the paywall, that is certainly unfortunate. It is not my intent for users to be charged (soft paywall or not) to access digital copies of my work. However, I'd rather my work be available on Neovel than not.
